WW White Pedestrian Crossing Projects
WW White Pedestrian Crossing Projects
Vision Zero SA and the San Antonio Transportation Department are designing future pedestrian midblock crossings along WW White Road and recently installed a Pedestrian Flashing Beacon (RRFB) at a crossing near MLK Drive/Lord Road. All midblock crossings should be constructed by Summer 2024. The safety improvements are designed to:
- Create a safer experience for pedestrians crossing the street
- Help eliminate pedestrian serious injuries and fatalities
- Provide a safer street for all road users

The Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon (RRFB) on S. WW White Road and MLK Dr./Lord Road is operational near the Idea School campus. There is no button to push - instead, a sensor recognizes individuals preparing to cross and initiates the flashing light sequence.
- When a pedestrian is in the crosswalk, the RRFB stops automobile traffic to allow pedestrians to safely cross
- Provides a safer street for all road users
