The Bond Project will construct roadway improvements to include sidewalks, driveway approaches, trees and irrigation, as well as joint bid utility work including valve adjustments, manhole reconstruction, and other improvements as applicable and within available funding.

Contractor J3 will shift construction activities to the south side of N. New Braunfels Ave. between Gibbs St. and Paso Hondo St. as early as 6/27/25. Construction zone will be placed on the southeast side of N. New Braunfels Ave. on the block between Gibbs St. and Paso Hondo St. The Northbound travel lanes on N. New Braunfels Ave. from Paso Hondo St. to Gibbs St. will be closed to traffic. Northbound travel lanes from E. Commerce Ave. to Paso Hondo St. will be closed to through traffic and restricted to local traffic only. One southbound travel lane on the west side of N. New Braunfels Ave. will be open at all times. The intersection crossings at Center St. and E. Crocket St. will re-open to traffic. A detour route will be put in place to shift northbound traffic onto E. Commerce St. at the intersection of N. New Braunfels Ave.
All work is weather permitted. We appreciate your patience and careful driving during construction.

North New Braunfels - Intersection Closures
Contractor J3 Construction Company will start work on medians along N. New Braunfels between Canton St. and E. Crockett St. All work is weather permitted. Traffic control will be as follows:
- Work is underway on center raised medians.
- One northbound traffic lane has been re-opened to traffic between E. Houston St. and Canton St.
- One southbound and one northbound travel lane has been open to traffic along N. New Braunfels between E. Houston St. and Paso Hondo St. and will continue throughout May 2025.
- Intersections at Canton St. and E. Crockett St. have been closed for median construction. No left turns on both intersections will be permitted while raised median work is undergoing. A detour is in place for local east-west traffic for both locations.
- Sidewalk, driveways, and parking lot access will be maintained for all businesses.

North New Braunfels - Lane closures and detours
Contractor J3 Construction Company will continue performing work on sidewalks, curbs, driveway approaches and roads on the east side of N. New Braunfels between East Houston and Paso Hondo Street. All work is weather permitted. Traffic and pedestrian control plan will be as follows:
- A single lane closure continues on the southbound traffic side of N. New Braunfels Ave. (between Houston St. and Paso Hondo St.) for center median work.
- Two northbound traffic lanes have been closed between E. Houston St. and Canton St. for construction work on sidewalks, curbs, driveway approaches, and a bus bad.
- The detour routes established will remain active for through traffic.
- Northbound travel lanes on N. New Braunfels Ave. from Paso Hondo St. to Canton St. will remain open for local traffic.
- One northbound traffic lane will re-open.
- Contractor will switch to the next phase of construction of center medians in early May, 2025.
- Sidewalk, driveways, and parking lot access will be accessible at all times for all businesses.

North New Braunfels - Lane closures and detours
Contractor J3 Construction Company will start performing work on sidewalks, curbs and driveway approaches on the east side of N. New Braunfels between East Houston and Canton Street as early as March 28, 2025, weather permitted. Traffic and pedestrian control plan will be as follows:
- Two travel lane closures for northbound traffic will be necessary to perform the work through April 2025.
- East sidewalk closed to pedestrians.
- Two southbound travel lanes will be open to traffic.
- West side sidewalk will be open to pedestrians.
- Side streets and its sidewalks will be open at all times.
- Businesses will have full access to costumers.
- Vehicular detours to alleviate traffic (see map provided).

Design Update:
The City investigated safety concerns at the intersection of N New Braunfels Avenue and Canton St that were mentioned during the public meeting held in January, 2024. To enhance safety at this intersection, the City will include the installation of a dedicated left turn and a turnaround at Canton Street along with a new mid-block crossing. These changes will promote safer driving conditions and improve pedestrian safety in this corridor. Please see the Proposed Median Improvements exhibit provided.
