Commerce Street & Santa Rosa - Road Closure

Commerce Street at Santa Rosa will be closed to through traffic starting on April 21, 2025 beginning at 9:00 AM thru April 22, 2025 at 8:00 AM for the removal of existing concrete barriers in preparation for Fiesta 2025 Parade Preparation. Beginning on April 22, 2025 through May 4, 2025 Commerce Street at Santa Rosa will continue to remain closed to accommodate Fiesta De Los Reyes Event

All construction zones will be clearly marked with barricades and road closure signs. Detours will be posted and in effect for the duration of the April 21, 2025 closure, and pedestrian access will be maintained to The Market Square Mercado and Farmers Market as part of the ZONA Cultural Project.

Current and Planned Work:

 

Zona Cultural Project Wide - Fiesta 2025

  • Continuing from April 22, 2025 through May 4, 2025 Commerce Street at Santa Rosa will continue to remain closed to accommodate Fiesta De Los Reyes Event.
  • The Zona Cultural construction project will keep moving forward during Fiesta 2025. Pedestrian access will be provided.

 

Commerce Street (Laredo to Frio)

  • Commerce Street (Pecos to Frio) – Irrigation, approximately 85% of landscaping has been completed. CPS Energy is completing transformer installation in order for contractor to complete illumination and signalization. Two lanes of westbound traffic are currently being provided, provisions will be in place to account for pedestrian traffic.
  • Commerce Street (San Saba to Pecos North Side) – Concrete pavement placement is complete. Paver installation in progress, which will be followed by remaining irrigation illumination and signalization. At least one lane of traffic (westbound) will be maintained at all times, provisions will be in place to account for pedestrian traffic.
  • Commerce Street & Pecos Intersection – At present two lanes are available for southbound Pecos traffic through Commerce intersection. 
  • Commerce Street (Santa Rosa to San Saba North Side) – Installation of sidewalk followed by irrigation and landscaping. At least one lane of traffic (westbound) will be maintained at all times, provisions will be in place to account for pedestrian traffic. *  

 

San Saba (Nueva to Houston)

  • San Saba (Nueva to Dolorosa) – Completion of illumination and signalization, irrigation and subsequent vegetation, sidewalks and final asphalt surface installation, and site amenities. 
  • San Saba Full Road Closure (Dolorosa to Commerce) – Installation of raised planters completed, irrigation, landscaping, and site amenities. Provisions for pedestrian traffic maintained at all times.
  • San Saba (Commerce to Houston) – Paver installation will be followed by sidewalks and driveway installation. Adjustment of remaining utilities, illumination and signalization.*

 

Santa Rosa (Cesar Chavez to Martin)

  • Santa Rosa (Cesar Chavez to Dolorosa) - Sidewalks, driveways and remaining paver installation. Irrigation and landscaping are in progress will be followed by signalization and illumination. Access to Public Safety Headquarters, Bill Millers, Federal Building, and Washington Square building shall be provided at all times.
  • Santa Rosa Full Road Closure (Commerce to Houston) – Concrete pavement being placed and will be followed by sidewalk and driveways. Irrigation, landscaping, illumination and signalization. *
  • Santa Rosa and Commerce Intersection (North Side) - Roadway re-construction efforts are complete, concrete pavement placement is tentatively scheduled for April 6 & 7, a notice will be provided as placement will require a roadway closure of Commerce St. Provisions in place for access to businesses and pedestrian traffic.
  • Nueva at Santa Rosa Intersection – Completion of utility installation and adjustments, illumination, signalization, landscape, and amenities. *
