Project Update

What you need to know:
• Construction is underway on improvements to Friesenhahn Park as part of the 2022–2027 Bond Program.
• Project features include a new parking lot on Classen with connecting walkways, a parking lot extension on O’Connor, lighting upgrades, and pond renovation.
• A temporary path closure next to the work site will be in place to accommodate construction activities.
Friesenhahn Park Parking lot will be closed from Nov 3-10 for construction repairs.

Overall Project Information
• Estimated construction timeline: Summer 2025 through Spring 2026.
• Seasons are defined as: Winter (Jan–Mar), Spring (Apr–Jun), Summer (Jul–Sep), and Fall (Oct–Dec).
• This project is a joint effort by Capital Delivery Department, Parks & Recreation, and City Council District 10 to enhance park access, safety, and amenities.

  • Bond Budget: $800,000
  • Construction Budget (work permits, etc.):  +/- $560,000
