Roof Repair - Under 1 Roof Program
The City of San Antonio is hosting outreach events to accept applications for the Under 1 Roof Program.
The Under 1 Roof Program provides roof shingle replacement with Shasta white shingles to improve a home’s energy efficiency. This program provides a one-time grant to eligible San Antonio homeowners. Homeowner’s must continue to own and live in the home for five years after the roof replacement is completed.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Must have a current year Homestead Exemption on the property.
Property taxes must be current and/or have less than $5,000 in active deferral
All owner(s) must live in the home
Any lines and judgements must be less than $5,000
Gross income must not exceed 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI)
Property can have metal roof, gravel roof, clay tiles or wood shingles

Roof Repair Application Assistance Event
The Under 1 Roof Program provides roof shingle replacement with Shasta white shingles to improve a home’s energy efficiency. This program provides a one-time grant to eligible San Antonio homeowners. Homeowner’s must continue to own and live in the home for five years after the roof replacement is completed.
If you need help applying for the program, attend an outreach event near you for assistance submitting an application. Registration is not required to attend.
WHAT TO BRING
- IDs and Social Security cards for all applicants and occupants in the household. If children live in your household, only Social Security cards are needed.
- Proof of income for any individual receiving income. For example:
- Three (3) months of consecutive, current paystubs
- If self-employed, copies of the last two years of Income Tax Returns
- Current award letter from any state or federal assistance program showing the awarded amount (e.g., Social Security, TANF, Medicaid)
- Documentation from the relevant agency indicating current benefits or awards for all occupants receiving retirement benefits, child support, annuities, etc.
- Tax Statement
- Current mortgage statement if applicable
- Deed of the home
- If currently insured, a copy of the property insurance declaration page
- Proof of current payment if the property tax account has an active deferral or payment plan
