The City of San Antonio is at the forefront of adopting the most recent building-related codes to ensure the latest buildings standards are incorporated into new construction for the safety of our residents. These codes are updated every three years, however the pandemic delayed this process.

For a better understanding of how these codes will be adopted and the process we will follow, we have scheduled a series of committee meetings in the coming months. Each committee will be reviewing the 2021 International Code Council (ICC) codes for the following:

• Building Code
• Existing Builing Code
• Residential Code
• Fire Code
• Mechanical Code
• Plumbing Code
• Fuel Gas Code
• Energy Conservation Code
• National Electrical Code
• Swimming Pool and Spa Code
