Project Background

This project, located in the SA Tomorrow Downtown Regional Center, would extend the existing bicycle facility and pedestrian improvements at W. Houston Street to Interstate 10 frontage, with the purpose of expanding the access to Centro Plaza. Many destinations such as the growing UTSA Downtown Campus, Haven for Hope, Robert B. Green Medical Center, and VIA’s Centro Plaza are located along this corridor. Frio Street serves minority and low-income populations, multiple VIA routes, and would close a gap between existing bicycle facilities along with providing first/last mile connections.

NOTES:

This project is proposed for inclusion in the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO) FY 2023-2026 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).  Final adoption of the FY 2023-2027 TIP is scheduled for October 2022. The Draft TIP shows construction funds scheduled for FY 2026.
