W. Hildebrand Ave. Improvements
W. Hildebrand Ave. from Belknap St. to McCullough Ave. will be under construction for pedestrian and street improvements beginning as early as July 13, 2026*.
Phase 1: pedestrian improvements to the intersection of W Hildebrand Ave & Howard St.
- Estimated Construction Timeline: as early as July 13-through August 2026
- Traffic Impacts: intermittent lane closures. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
- Scope: new pedestrian signals, audible pedestrian push buttons, ADA ramp upgrades

Phase 2: repaving and striping of W. Hildebrand Ave. from Belknap St. to McCullough Ave.
- Estimated Construction Timeline: September 2026
- Traffic Impacts: intermittent lane closures. Two-way traffic will be maintained.
- Scope: street rehabilitation, delineator curb extensions, new pavement markings which includes one travel lane in each direction with a center turn lane (3 lanes total) from Belknap Pl to McCullough Ave.

August 14, 2026 Update:
Construction is currently underway at the intersection of Hildebrand Avenue and Howard Street and is expected to be complete by the end of August 2026.
Once intersection work wraps up, street improvements will continue along Hildebrand Avenue between Belknap Place and McCullough Avenue. This phase is anticipated to begin and conclude within September 2026. This phase includes repaving the roadway and new pavement markings for one travel lane in each direction with a center turn lane (3 lanes total).
In addition, San Antonio Water System (SAWS) has scheduled its own planned work along Hildebrand Avenue between McCullough Avenue and Devine Road, also set to begin in September 2026.
