- Saturday, December 2, 2023 | 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
What is REHABARAMA?
REHABARAMA is a housing preservation program focused on prolonging the useful life of San Antonio's older housing stock. Administered by the Office of Historic Preservation. REHABARAMA focuses on building the hands-on preservation trades and emphasizes retention and preservation of original building materials and architectural character. Qualified participants are eligible to receive assistance with home repair and maintenance projects focused on prolonging the useful life of the home and maintaining a living environment that is safe. dry. and warm.
What is PRE-HABARAMA?
PRE-HABARAMA is a volunteer workday at the Material Innovation Center at Port San Antonio to organize and prepare materials that will be used on the homes selected for the REHABARAMA program.
Volunteer duties will include:
- Unloading team: relocating lumber from garage bays for prep
- Material prep team: de-nailing and/or planing lumber
- Inventory team: counting /categorizing items and uploading to the digital marketplace
- Restocking team: organizing prepped items and reloading them back into the garage
Volunteers should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes are required. Volunteers will be provided with water and light snacks for their contributions.
