Cultural Heritage District - Silk Road
Introducing San Antonio's newest Cultural Heritage District!
Community Meeting for Cultural Heritage District - Silk Road
The Office of Historic Preservation is hosting a community meeting to talk about the new Cultural Heritage District in District 8! Join the conversation. Refreshments will be provided.
In 2022, City Council District 8 Councilmember Manny Pelaez initiated the creation of a new cultural heritage district celebrating the cultures that met along historic Silk Roads. Located largely along the Wurzbach corridor near the Medical Center, the district will highlight and celebrate the rich traditions of the Middle Eastern, North African, and Asian immigrants here.
The Office of Historic Preservation will host community listening sessions, where communities are invited to join and share their knowledge and stories about the places and traditions related to the Cultural Heritage District.
